[Premium Japanese Restaurant in Gangnam] – Ichijun | A Flavorful Day with Seafood Hot Pot & Flounder Sashimi
Tucked away in a quiet alley near Gangnam Station is the premium Japanese restaurant “Ichijun.” I had heard great things on social media, and finally visited with friends to try their seafood hot pot and flounder sashimi—and it was a fantastic experience.
Just a 5-minute walk from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station, Ichijun is slightly away from the main street, offering a calm and refined atmosphere. From the signboard to the entrance, it feels like a hidden gem straight out of a back alley in Tokyo.
The interior features modern wooden decor and warm lighting. The space is divided into bar seating and private rooms, making it perfect for both dates and business meetings. Staff were quiet, courteous, and even provided warm towels at the beginning—such thoughtful service!
First to arrive was the flounder sashimi, beautifully plated and freshly sliced. The texture was delightfully chewy yet tender, with a clean, light flavor that really stood out. The soy sauce, likely house-made, added a rich umami kick.
Next came the seafood hot pot, and one sip of the broth had us all in awe. Packed with crab, clams, shrimp, baby octopus, squid, and more—this dish was incredibly satisfying. The broth was made from a base of miso and kelp, giving it deep flavor without being overpowering.
Even the vegetables—minari, mushrooms, and tofu—were carefully chosen and cooked just right. You could taste the care and quality in every bite.
